This website is published by Sean Brannigan KC, a self-employed barrister practising from 4 Pump Court, Temple, London EC4Y 7AN. For data protection purposes he is the controller of personal data collected through this site. He can be contacted at [email protected].
This notice covers the website only. It does not cover the handling of case papers or client information, which is governed by professional obligations, the terms on which instructions are accepted, and 4 Pump Court's own arrangements.
The short version
This site does not sell advertising, does not carry advertising trackers, and does not build a profile of you for marketing. It measures how the site is used, and it lets you subscribe to the DIFC Court Digest if you choose to. Analytics that use cookies run only if you agree.
What is collected, and why
Microsoft Clarity (only if you agree)
If you accept analytics cookies, this site loads Microsoft Clarity. Clarity records how visitors interact with the pages: mouse movement, clicks, scrolling, the pages visited, the site you arrived from, your device and browser type, and your approximate location derived from your IP address. It builds anonymised session replays and heatmaps. It does not capture your name or email address, and it does not record the content of anything you type into a form.
Clarity is operated by Microsoft, which acts as a processor and also uses the data in accordance with its own privacy statement, at privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement.
Cloudflare Web Analytics (no cookies)
This site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views. It sets no cookies, does not fingerprint your browser, and does not track you between websites. It records the page requested, the referring site, and general information about country, device and browser.
Hosting and security
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare processes your IP address and request details in order to serve pages and to protect the site against attack. That processing is necessary for the site to work.
Fonts
Typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts. Google receives your IP address as part of that request.
The DIFC Court Digest mailing list
If you fill in the subscription form on the DIFC Court Digest page, the name and email address you give are stored so that you can be told when a new edition is published. Nothing else is done with them. They are not sold or shared. Ask at the address above and the record will be deleted.
Email and enquiries
If you email the address on this site, or contact the clerks, that correspondence is handled in the ordinary way. It is not connected to any website analytics record.

No cookie is set for advertising, and there are no third-party advertising or social media trackers on this site.
Legal basis
- Analytics cookies — your consent, under regulation 6 of the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003 and Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR. You can withdraw it at any time using the button above.
- Hosting, delivery and security logging — legitimate interests, in keeping the site available and secure.
- The Digest mailing list — your consent, given when you submit the form.
How long information is kept
- Clarity session recordings are retained by Microsoft for approximately 30 days; aggregated metrics are retained for longer, up to about 13 months.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics holds aggregated figures only, for a limited period set by Cloudflare.
- Mailing list entries are kept until you ask for them to be removed.
Who the information is shared with
Microsoft and Cloudflare, in their capacity as providers of the services described above. Nobody else. Personal data is not sold, and it is not passed to any third party for marketing.
Your rights
You have the right to ask what personal data is held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict its processing, and to receive a copy of it. Write to the address above and the request will be dealt with within one month.
If you are not satisfied with the response, you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or by telephone on 0303 123 1113.
